According to the Fleet Technology Trends Report Survey conducted for Verizon Connect by ABI Research, in 2022 the number of fleets using GPS tracking technology is 72% in Australia and 69% in New Zealand, showing that it’s a consolidated and growing solution for businesses

What is the fleet technology currently utilised in Australia and New Zealand? 

The challenges that businesses have to face every day to maintain daily operations efficiently and get results in this ‘back to normal’ scenario, have contributed to trust in fleet management technologies to build resilience and strengthen their business.

  • GPS tracking: 71%
  • In-cab video (including front facing and driver facing cameras): 42%

GPS tracking leads the fleet management technologies in Australia and New Zealand 

GPS tracking is the fleet management technology most utilised in Australia and New Zealand. 

We found in-cab video to be the most utilised technology. It’s an integrated camera that provides first-hand knowledge of what is happening on the road. In-cab video can help analyse drivers’ behaviour to clarify the facts in case of an accident. Video proof also protects your business from false claims, helps to coach your team, and promotes safe driver behaviour. 

And in fourth position of the most utilised fleet management technologies in Australia and New Zealand, was asset tracking. This technology helps fleet managers to easily monitor assets in near real-time, improve asset utilisation, security, and boost productivity in the field and at the office.

- 83% of survey respondents in Australia and New Zealand who have a GPS tracking solution stated that it’s ‘very’ or ‘extremely’ beneficial.

- 37% of respondents stated they reached a positive ROI within 3 months to 6 months and 49% between 7 months to 1 year in Australia.

- 22% of respondents stated they reached a positive ROI within 3 months to 6 months and 57% between 7 months to 1 year in New Zealand.
