With a fleet of 12 vehicles, the company delivers everything from Traffic Control Plans (TCPs), Traffic Management Plans (TMPs) and Road Occupancy Licences (ROLs) to council approvals, pedestrian management, road closures, and support for special events.
2EC is both G10 TfNSW and ISO accredited, ensuring that its traffic solutions are not just of the highest quality, but also compliant with all relevant legal and operational standards.
With a fleet operating across various job types, sites and locations, the team at 2EC Traffic Pty Ltd needed a solution that could offer greater visibility of its operation. Director, Leonardo Monzon, wanted an easier way to monitor the exact location and status of all company utes.
"We faced issues with customers stating that our teams had left early, but we couldn’t double-check or confirm that information.” Leonardo Monzon, Director, 2EC Traffic & Chair for NSW at TMAA.
Should a customer claim that a vehicle was not on site or that it had left early, management had no way of verifying whether this was true. As well as making it easier to locate vehicles, a tracking solution was required to better support drivers and increase accountability across the workforce.
After surveying the market for potential solutions, Leonardo and his team opted for Verizon Connect thanks in large part to a recommendation from a respected and experienced peer in the industry.
"We chose Verizon Connect based on a trusted recommendation from a highly experienced individual in the industry. His endorsement, combined with our need for a reliable and efficient system, made the decision clear for us.” Leonardo Monzon, Director, 2EC Traffic & Chair for NSW at TMAA.
The system’s live map and near real-time tracking capabilities would allow the company to monitor its vehicles and staff out in the field. By adding virtual geofences to physical locations, office staff could also receive notifications when vehicles arrive and depart from job sites.
This added visibility would enable 2EC to respond faster and more accurately to customer queries and offer peace of mind that its staff are exactly where they believe them to be.
2EC has seen significant improvements in both productivity and efficiency since implementing the Verizon Connect solution, most notably in the areas of fuel consumption and employee accountability.
By integrating the solution into its fuel card system, the company can now identify instances of petrol theft and fraud – something that could not be detected previously. As well as helping to reduce costs, this ability has enabled Leonardo and his team to enforce stricter controls around fuel purchases.
Elsewhere, the company’s operations manager no longer needs to call drivers and other staff to verify whether utes are on the road, in the depot or on site. This not only saves time but has also resulted in a marked improvement in operational efficiency.
Our solution has helped 2EC achieve its goal of greater visibility too. Office staff are now able to easily locate any vehicle in the fleet and provide customers with accurate data regarding on-site times and vehicle movements, addressing disputes with clear evidence.
Monitoring company vehicles outside working hours has helped the company to realise more efficiency gains by minimising instances of unauthorised use.
Data gathered by the Verizon Connect solution has helped 2EC to promote safer driving across its fleet operation. Management can now identify and reward to the safest drivers while pinpointing common mistakes and coaching others to improve. As well as helping to enhance road safety, this capability helps to foster a culture of accountability and recognition among the team.
"Verizon Connect has helped us optimise efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance accountability across the board.” Leonardo Monzon, Director, 2EC Traffic & Chair for NSW at TMAA.
With an eye on the future, 2EC plans to increase visibility further by adding an integrated camera system to their fleet management solution. The company is also in the process of enhancing its use of the solution’s reporting features, believing the insights will help it further optimise operations and enhance safety.
