Read moreThis year, 300 fleet professionals participated in the Verizon Connect Fleet Technology Trends in New Zealand and Australia 2023, 150 of them were fleet managers and mobility experts from New Zealand. Their responses yielded powerful insights fleets can use to improve their operations, including these three emerging fleet telematics trends.
According to the Fleet Technology Trends Report 2023 in New Zealand, fleets are slowly adopting electric vehicles. In fact, in New Zealand, 36% of fleets surveyed claimed to be using them in 2022 compared to 64% who currently have no EVs in their fleets.
A major barrier to EV adoption for many fleets is a lack of charging infrastructure. Even though fleets may have found EVs desirable due to reduced emissions and the low cost of powering them, without charging stations along their routes it simply wasn’t feasible.
But soon, this could change.
Some of the challenges to boost EV deployment implies establishing EV charging infrastructure, making EVs more accessible for fleets in the future. It will take time for this infrastructure to expand, but now is the time to start planning.
