Passenger transport industry insights: How fleet technology can help improve the sector

Passenger transport is crucial to the EU economy, and along with a range of other industries, technology has been essential for the sector in order for them to obtain results and growth beyond global and local scenarios. 

That's why passenger transport is one of the top 5 sectors that uses GPS fleet tracking technology in their daily business, with 77% of European companies in the industry using it in 2021*. This was according to the results obtained in the "Fleet Trends Report Europe: Passenger Transportation Industry Insights" conducted for Verizon Connect by ABI Research. 

Here were some of the main findings relating to the industry:

• 57% of survey respondents reported improved customer service since they implemented a fleet tracking solution.
• 48% improved productivity.
• 53% have lowered their fuel consumption.
• 40% reduced accidents and 28% lowered labour costs.
• For smart technologies, like in-cab video the benefits go far beyond expectations and 63% of video solution adopters have reduced accident costs and 39% have lowered insurance costs.
